Dr. Norman Borlaug, native son of Cresco and credited with saving countless lives, was one of the first guests at the B & B in 2005 and slept in this room. And now, it's named after him. He was known as the father of the Green Revolution and was a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970. He had a passion for fighting world hunger and it has been said that he saved more lives than any other man in history due to his work as a plant scientist. In 1944, he moved to Mexico, built a strong agricultural team and within 12 years produced a disease-resistant wheat that yielded five times the previous harvests, lifting Mexico from famine.
Cresco has an annual Norman Borlaug Harvest Fest each year that runs for three days, Friday – Sunday, usually the last weekend in September.
